When Can I Get TurboTax State? You can order TurboTax State anytime, in fact TurboTax Premier even includes a free download of TurboTax state. The downside is that TurboTax State is not released until mid to late January because states are always changing their tax codes. The upside is that TurboTax makes it easy to download TurboTax state from within the TurboTax software whenever it is released. You simply use the option in TurboTax to check for TurboTax state and if its ready it downloads. In the end using TurboTax and TurboTax State you print or file electronically a complete tax package of your federal form 1040 and state income tax form.
